About this therapy

Physiotherapy for knee pain often involves a variety of techniques, including the use of electrical modalities. These methods can help alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

Got stuck with your knee pain? Get relief from your chronic pains and recapture your life with Ayursh. Vanish your pain using a variety of modalities like I.F.T, ULTRASOUND, T.E.N.S and Muscles Stimulators to decrease pain sensations and to quicken your healing process

How is it done?

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): How It Works: TENS units deliver low-frequency electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin near the painful area. These impulses can help block pain signals and stimulate the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

Interferential Current Therapy (IFC): Purpose: Pain relief and reduction of muscle spasms. How It Works: IFC uses two medium-frequency electrical currents that intersect in the area of pain. This creates a low-frequency stimulation effect that can help in pain management and muscle relaxation.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS): Purpose: Muscle strengthening and prevention of atrophy. How It Works: EMS involves the use of electrical impulses to stimulate muscle contractions. This can be beneficial for strengthening weakened muscles around the knee and maintaining muscle tone during periods of inactivity.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF): Purpose: Promotes healing and reduces inflammation. How It Works: PEMF involves applying low-frequency electromagnetic fields to the affected area. This can help improve blood flow, reduce swelling, and accelerate tissue repair.

The therapist will place an electrode pad on the affected area of the knee and adjust the intensity as required. The electric modalities delivers continuous or intermittent pulses to increase the articulation of the affected area which enhances the healing process

Electrical modalities are often used in conjunction with other physiotherapy techniques such as exercise therapy, manual therapy, and education on knee joint protection strategies.
